Ever since TJ was little, he wanted to be a chef. What he loved most about cooking was how it brought his family together.
TJ grew up in a part of town that had little to no plant-based options, so after deciding to go vegan at 14, he had to learn how to make his own meals. After watching countless YouTube videos and joining a plant-based Facebook group, he quickly started to pick up on how to make a lot of great tasting recipes meat and dairy-free.
“I just love creating stuff. There's no rules and you can do what you want. I plan out my family’s meals every Sunday and then we go grocery shopping so that I can cook for them all week. I think going plant-based made an impact on my family by making them try new options that they would have never tried before.”
He has sold his own plant-based meals at five different pop-ups throughout his community and hopes to one day fulfill his lifelong dream of owning his own restaurant.
“Sharing food with others just makes other people happy, and that makes me happy. I think it's good for the community to have new options.”
