Following successful launches of Beyond Meat’s beef- and pork-style products, the plant-based pioneer is expanding its portfolio with the new Beyond Burger® Chicken-Style, Beyond Schnitzel®, and Beyond Tenders

Amsterdam, 21 February 2022 - Beyond Meat® (NASDAQ: BYND), a leader in plant-based meat, is stepping up its offer in the Netherlands with a range of mouth-watering plant-based chicken-style products including the brand-new Beyond Burger® Chicken-Style, Beyond Schnitzel®, and Beyond Tenders™. The tasty new innovations will be rolling out in the Netherlands this week at select Albert Heijn and Jumbo stores.

Like all Beyond Meat products, the new Beyond Chicken-Style products are made from plant-based ingredients and are designed to look, cook and taste like their animal equivalent. Crispy on the outside thanks to their golden breading, and incredibly tender and juicy on the inside, these delicious products are suitable for carnivores, flexitarians, vegetarians and vegans alike. They provide the perfect, cravable options for any hot meal occasion, and can be prepared quickly and easily in the air fryer, oven or frying pan. Tasty convenience at its finest!

Kenny Mayoral, R&D Director EMEA, Beyond Meat, said: “In our quest to make plant-based meat more accessible, we’re continuously adapting and refining our portfolio to fit the varying European palates. We’re delighted to be introducing our new range of Beyond Chicken-Style products which will deliver the delicious taste our customers expect in a way that’s kinder to the planet, no sacrifice required.”

The new Beyond Meat Chicken-Style range includes:

Beyond Burger® Chicken-Style
With a meaty taste and texture but now in a chicken-style option, it’s time to take your favourite comfort food beyond. This new plant-based burger packs a punch with 15 grams of protein per 100g, and oozes deliciousness.

Beyond Schnitzel®
Ready to take your meal to the next level? Crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside, Beyond Schnitzel is a delicious, versatile option that is quick-to-prepare, and is suitable as a main course.

Beyond Tenders
Beyond Tenders are crispy on the outside thanks to their breading, and fittingly tender on the inside. They can be prepared quickly and easily. Chop and add to salads, as a topping to your poke bowl or in a pitta… the choices are endless.

The new Beyond Chicken-Style products complement the existing Beyond Meat portfolio, which in the Netherlands already includes Beyond Burger®, Beyond Sausage®, Beyond Mince® and Beyond Meatballs®, and builds upon Beyond Meat’s award-winning chicken-style portfolio in the US.

Unlocking the potential of the faba bean

Through rapid and relentless innovation, Beyond Meat’s research, innovation and culinary teams are focused on creating plant-based meat that is indistinguishable from their animal equivalent in taste while being kinder on the planet.

The protein in the new Beyond Chicken-Style products comes in part from the faba bean, a nutrient-packed legume crop. Its unique qualities make it the optimal ingredient for replicating the taste and texture of traditional chicken. After popularizing pea protein with the iconic and award-winning Beyond Burger®, Beyond Meat continues to unlock the potential of new plant protein sources.

Innovation goes beyond

With Europe’s plant-based food market expected to surpass a value of USD $7.8 billion by 2025, Europe is well placed to lead the global transition to plant-based food. In collaboration with the US team, Beyond Meat’s new European R&D hub which opened in 2022 is behind the launch of the new Beyond Chicken-Style products. Located in the town of Ede, at the heart of the renowned Dutch Food Valley, the hub houses cutting-edge technology and focuses on the research, development and innovation of delicious plant-based meat products that cater to customers and consumers across Europe. Made up of a team of food scientists, researchers and culinary experts, Beyond Meat continues to develop plant-based products with the specific taste profiles in mind of European consumers.
