Eurowings Discover is the first German airline to offer plant-based meatballs from Beyond Meat®

February 2, 2023 - Holiday airline Eurowings Discover is the first German airline to integrate Beyond Meatballs® into its in-flight menu. Since the beginning of the year, business class guests have been able to enjoy the juicy plant-based meatballs on both short-haul and long-haul flights. Served in spicy tomato sauce, Beyond Meatballs perfectly complement the in-flight menu. 

Beyond Meatballs are designed to be similar in taste and texture to animal meatballs - yet they are made from plant-based ingredients such as pea protein and rice protein. 

Patrick Door, responsible for the onboard product at Eurowings Discover, about the new offer: "As a young holiday airline we always focus on innovative food concepts in our onboard service, in addition to well-known classics. With the new dishes we want to appeal to both vegetarians and meat lovers. Beyond Meatballs are a real novelty onboard - they meet the zeitgeist and are delicious. We're already getting a lot of positive feedback from guests and our crews."

Beyond Meatballs are seasoned with popular Italian spices, such as rosemary, oregano and basil. As a result, they go particularly well with Italian-inspired dishes. Eurowings Discover serves the Beyond Meatballs in a tomato sauce with its popular Little Italy Bowl, consisting of Risoni Pasta, courgette, mozzarella, tomato and mango chilli chutney.
