The UN Recognizes Beyond Meat as a “Champion of the Earth”

This fall, Beyond Meat was recognized for our trailblazing global sustainability efforts by the United Nations who honored us as a 2018 Champion of the Earth. This is the UN’s highest accolade for the environment.
Since its launch, this yearly award has recognized 84 individuals, ranging from world leaders to environmental defenders to technology inventors. What makes each of the trailblazers stand out is that they have in their own way made a difference to protect our planet for the next generation. According to the UN, Beyond Meat was honored “for their innovative development of a popular alternative to beef but without the terribly damaging environmental and climate impacts.”
Our CEO & Founder, Ethan Brown, discussed how Beyond Meat is eliminating animal agriculture’s biggest bottleneck, the animal. Check out his full speech at UN’s ceremony below.
