Vegan Halloween Recipe Ideas
October 8, 2016
Even if you eat a plant-based diet, you can still indulge in all the Halloween deliciousness. Here are some great vegan Halloween recipe ideas, which are just as tasty as they are imaginative.
Sweet Potato Zombie Hand
Sweet potatoes are the perfect material for making a zombie’s hand, and it’s surprisingly easy to put together. After cooking the sweet potato, just make some cuts for the fingers and carve out a chunk for the palm. Then add some cashew fingernails and ketchup for blood. You can find step-by-step directions by Vanilla and Spice here!
Spooky Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Treats
These rice krispy treats aren’t just vegan, they are also incredibly cute. Find the recipe by Chocolate Covered Katie here.
Tasty Severed Fingers
Over at the blog Maple Spice, you can find some really inventive vegan Halloween ideas — like eyeball pasta and shrunken head soup. These severed fingers definitely take the prize though. They do require a bit of work to shape, but it’s a fun project if you’re someone who likes to have the most elaborate winning creation. Check out the recipe here!
Spooky Black Bean Hummus
If you need a super simple yet themed appetizer, this one is it. The recipe uses black beans instead of chickpeas for the hummus to give it a dark color, and the spider web is drawn with dairy-free yogurt. Get the recipe here by Fat Free Vegan.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Pumpkins and Ghosts
Did you know that you can dye coconut flakes? Both of these recipes have the exact same base of peanut butter and chocolate. Then they are shaped and rolled in coconut flakes (the pumpkin ones are dyed with carrot juice!). With this base recipe, you can get creative and come up with all sorts of other Halloween-inspired ideas. Find the pumpkin recipe here and the ghost recipe here.
Vegan Monster Donuts
Vegan donuts have become a common favorite, so all you need to do is add the festive accents and they’re ready to go! Take a look at this recipe by Namely Marly here!
Mummified Bananas
Keep the preparation quick and easy by transforming a fruity favorite! Vie de la Vegan shares the recipe here.
Bloody Falafel Fingers
These are a great way to create a festive dish without compromising flavor. Savory falafel bites are also a needed break from all the sugary treats surrounding you on Halloween. Check out the recipe by Vegan Richa here!
Black Bean Spider Web Soup
Halloween-themed main courses can be a bit tougher, so this recipe will be much appreciated. It is for an ultra-hearty black bean soup which has been turned into a spider web with some vegan sour cream. Delicious! Click here for the recipe by EatnVegn.
