WHAT IS THE BEYOND BURGER®?

The Beyond Burger is the world’s only plant-based burger that looks, cooks, and satisfies so much like ground beef patty that it’s sold in the meat section of over 10K grocery stores in the US (and soon, the world). It is made without soy or gluten and is GMO Free. By braiding together proteins, fats and minerals, we re-create the basic architecture, and thus texture, of meat unlike any other brand or product. The Beyond Burger is not a veggie burger. It’s a delicious, juicy, meaty burger for true meat lovers. It just happens to be made from plants. Find out more here.

I CAN’T FIND BEYOND CHICKEN STRIPS IN MY GROCERY STORE. ARE THEY DISCONTINUED?

At Beyond Meat, we’re constantly innovating and renovating our products based on consumer feedback. Unfortunately, our Chicken Strips weren’t delivering the same plant-based meat experience as some of our more popular products, like the Beyond Burger and Beyond Sausage. But, there’s good news. We have a team of chefs and scientists who are working on getting an even better, tastier version of Beyond Chicken Strips back on retail shelves and restaurant menus as soon as possible. Until then, we hope you enjoy the Beyond Burger, Beyond Sausage, and Beyond Beef Crumbles, and some new products we have in the works for 2019!

HOW DO I COOK YOUR PRODUCTS?

Pretty much the same way you cook the analogous meat product, though cook times vary, so please check that packaging. We offer tons of delicious recipes, check them out here.

IS IT TRUE BILL GATES & LEONARDO DICAPRIO ARE INVESTORS IN BEYOND MEAT?

Yes, both are investors in Beyond Meat®. Other investors include Biz Stone & Evan Williams, former McDonald’s CEO Don Thompson, Tyson Foods, The Humane Society and many others.

WHEN WILL YOUR PRODUCT BE AVAILABLE INTERNATIONALLY?

They already are! The Beyond Burger® is available in nearly 1,000 A&Ws across Canada. A&W is the #2 burger chain in Canada, right behind McDonalds.

The Beyond Burger® is also in 350 Tesco Stores in the UK.

We have partnered with a select group of distributors to enter over 50 countries, including all of Europe, Canada, Australia, Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, Chile, Israel, UAE and South Africa.

WHY DO YOU CREATE PLANT-BASED PRODUCTS FROM PLANTS THAT AIM TO REPLICATE MEAT?

Our belief is that the best way to get people to eat less meat is by giving them more of what they love–in our case, juicy delicious burgers, sausages, and more – without so many of the health, sustainability, and animal welfare downsides of animal-based meats.

WHAT ARE YOUR PRODUCTS MADE OF?

Our products are made from 100% plant-based inputs such as proteins from peas, faba beans, and soy. They are free of gluten and GMOs.

HOW DO YOU MAKE PRODUCTS THAT LOOK, COOK, AND TASTE LIKE ANIMAL-BASED PROTEIN?

We use a proprietary system that applies heating, cooling, and pressure to align plant-proteins in the same fibrous structures that you’d find in animal proteins. We combine this process with ingredients that mimic the composition of animal-based meat, like plant-based proteins, fats, and minerals. The result? Plant-based meats that look, cook, and satisfy like beef, and pork.

HOW DO YOU REBUILD MEAT WITHOUT GENETICALLY MODIFYING ANYTHING?

This question gets back to the company’s basic thesis that meat’s core parts – amino acids, lipids, trace elements, carbs and minerals – don’t have exclusive residence in the animal kingdom. Our task is to eliminate the need for meat from animals and find the same or analogous materials in the plant kingdom. We are not inventing new materials but matching the plant equivalent and assembling it in the architecture of meat. And the way we do that assembly is similar to the simple process used to make pasta – we mix our plant-based ingredients, compress the mixture, and then shape it into final product (in our case, using a patty former).

BEYOND MEAT® LOOKS LIKE MEAT. IT IS REALLY VEGAN?

Absolutely. Beyond Meat® products are Certified Vegan by Vegan Action/Vegan Awareness Foundation.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS SAFE TO CONSUME IF I HAVE A NUT ALLERGY?

Peas are legumes. People with severe allergies to legumes like peanuts should be cautious when introducing pea protein into their diet because of the possibility of a pea allergy. Our products do not contain peanuts or tree nuts.

WHAT IF THE NUTRITION FACTS ON MY PACKAGE DON’T MATCH THE ONES ON YOUR WEBSITE?

Always refer to the nutrition facts on your package for information on the product you have purchased. These may not match the nutritional information listed on our site due to timing factors in food distribution.

WHAT ARE GMO’S?

A GMO, or genetically modified organism, is a plant, animal, microorganism or other organism whose genetic makeup has been modified in a laboratory using genetic engineering or transgenic technology. This creates combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and virus genes that do not occur in nature of through traditional cross-breeding methods.

HOW DOES THE NON-GMO PROJECT VERIFICATION PROCESS WORK?

Our products have completed a rigorous 1-year review process to secure Non-GMO Project Verification. The Non-GMO Project’s stringent verification process includes a comprehensive review of a product’s ingredients, supply chain and manufacturing facilities to ensure end-to-end transparency.

WHICH OF YOUR PRODUCTS ARE NON-GMO PROJECT VERIFIED?

All of our US-based products are currently Non-GMO Project Verified, including The Beyond Burger®, Beyond Sausage®, and Beyond Beef® Crumbles. You can look for the iconic butterfly seal to appear on Beyond Meat’s in-store packaging in the coming weeks and months.

I DON’T SEE THE NON-GMO PROJECT VERIFIED LOGO ON YOUR PACKAGING. HOW DO I KNOW IT’S VERIFIED?

You can see a list of our verified products on the official Non-GMO Project website. In an effort to reduce waste, we decided to flow through our packaging inventory before printing new packaging to include the Non-GMO Project Verified logo. Look for the butterfly in the coming weeks and months as the new packaging hits shelves in grocery stores across the country.

HOW DO YOU MAKE BURGERS THAT ‘BLEED’ WITHOUT USING GMOS?

From day one, we’ve dedicated ourselves to recreating meat from plants with simple, non-GMO ingredients. The Beyond Burger® is the world’s only burger that looks, cooks, and satisfies like beef, but is made entirely from plants, without GMOs, soy, or gluten. To deliver on the hallmark taste, texture and appearance of a beef burger, we employ simple plant-based ingredients in fresh ways. Beets provide the meaty red hue, peas provide the protein, and coconut oil and potato starch ensure mouthwatering juiciness and chew. We believe it’s entirely possible to replicate meat using these simple, non-GMO ingredients.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS ORGANIC?

We’re not currently certified organic, though we do hope to gain that in the future. However, all of the ingredients in our products are always non-GMO, hormone free, and food safe. We stand by them 100%.
