Beyond Meat x Summit LA

At this year’s Summit LA in downtown Los Angeles, Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion Alpine Ski Racer Lindsey Vonn sat down with Beyond Meat Founder & CEO Ethan Brown to talk about the realities of feeding a growing global population and how that impacts the health of both people and the planet. 



As an elite athlete training and racing in snowy climates, Lindsey became acutely aware of the rapidly increasing effects of climate change but she was less aware of the role food played in driving those effects. 

Did you know? Shifting from animal meat to plant-based meat is one of the most powerful measures someone can take to reduce their impact on our climate.

Enter Lindsey’s sister who introduced her to Beyond Meat - at first, Lindsey was skeptical but once she tasted a Beyond Burger? She was floored that something so good for the environment could also taste so great. Increasingly Lindsey also heard about other athletes who were utilizing a plant-based diet to give them a competitive edge--- from increased energy to reduced inflammation and faster recovery times.




”If I had known about plant-based protein earlier in my career, would it have extended it? Would I have had less inflammation and less joint pain?”  Lindsey said bringing Beyond Meat into her life caused her to shift her thinking and Go Beyond the traditional. She’s happy athletes now have such great plant-based meat options to introduce into their diets, she just wishes the change had come sooner.

Lindsey and Ethan sat down to a packed house at Summit LA’s 2019 conference to discuss the above and more in an effort to inspire others to Go Beyond.
