We’re beyond excited to announce that after a rigorous 1-year review process, we’ve officially secured Non-GMO verification from The Non-GMO Project (North America’s only third-party verification for non-GMO food and products).
From day one, we’ve dedicated ourselves to recreating meat from plants with simple, non-GMO ingredients.
“We feel a deep commitment to uphold our customer’s trust and provide them with clean, plant-based proteins without the ingredients we know they are increasingly uncomfortable with, including GMOs,” said our founder and CEO, Ethan Brown.
This news comes on the heels of our opening of a sprawling new innovation campus, dubbed The Manhattan Beach Project, where over 50 scientists and engineers are cracking the code on meat and recreating it directly from plants. Dariush Ajami, Beyond Meat’s VP of R&D explains, “Though not easy, we believe it is entirely possible to replicate the exact taste, texture, and appearance of meat using simple, non-GMO ingredients. To deliver on the hallmark taste, texture and appearance of a beef burger, we employee simple plant-based ingredients in fresh ways beets provide the meaty red hue, peas provide the protein, and coconut oil and potato starch ensure mouthwatering juiciness and chew.”
